UMaine swim teams to honor late teammate with upcoming road race

The University of  Maine’s swimming and diving teams are honoring the memory of a late teammate with a road race later this month.

On Oct. 30, the Black Bears will host the first annual “Nicole’s Trick or Trot 5K” in honor of Nicole Langlois, who died from complications of breast cancer on Sept. 15.

The race will start at 10 a.m. on the track surrounding Morse Field, and the course will take runners onto the campus’s paved bike path.

The finish line will be on the track.

All proceeds from the race will benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation in memory of Langlois.

With the event falling the day before Halloween, costumes of all sorts of humor are encouraged, but participants can also don regular road racing gear.

Children and adults of all ages are welcome to participate. Awards will be handed out to the top runners in different age categories.

Costume awards will also be distributed.

T-shits will be on sale for $10 at the race, and it costs $20 for runners to participate. Registration will kick off at 9 a.m. on race day.

Runners can register by logging onto nicolestrickortrot.racewire.com while a Go Fund Me page has been set up for donations in Langlois’ memory.
